Delete Your OpenRydr Account
OpenRydr is operated by OpenRydr LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company (“OpenRydr,” “we,” “us”). This page explains how to delete your OpenRydr account and the data associated with it, how to delete specific data without closing your account, what gets removed, and what we keep.
Delete your account in the app
The fastest way to delete your account is from inside the OpenRydr app:
- Open OpenRydr and go to Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete account.
- Read the confirmation screen. To keep a copy of your data, tap Export my data first.
- Type DELETE, then tap Delete account.
Your account and its associated data are permanently deleted. This cannot be undone.
Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. App Store and Google Play subscriptions are billed by Apple and Google, not by OpenRydr, so you must cancel billing separately in your platform settings — see Support for the exact steps. Cancel the subscription first if you want billing to stop.
Delete specific data
If you want to remove specific data without closing your account, you can delete individual rides, routes, and saved places directly in the app. You can also save a copy first from Settings → Privacy & Data → Export my data.
By email (if you've uninstalled the app)
If you no longer have the app installed, you can still request deletion by email:
- From the email address on your OpenRydr account, email privacy@openrydr.com.
- Tell us whether you want to delete your entire account or only specific data, and include any detail that helps us find the right records.
- Send the message. We confirm the request came from the account's email address, then delete your account or the data you asked us to remove.
We process email requests and remove your record typically within a few business days. If we need anything else to verify the request, we'll reply to that same email address.
What is deleted
When we delete your account, we remove the personal data associated with it, including:
- Your account and profile (display name, handle, profile details)
- Rides, ride photos, routes, saved ride lists, saved places, and privacy zones
- Safety contacts and your emergency info
- Garage, gear, and service records
- Your profile picture, banner and bike photos
- Your friends list and blocks
- Your direct messages. A conversation is deleted for both riders, so the other rider no longer sees it either.
- Your messages, photos, and votes in group rides and trips
- Feedback you sent, including screenshots
- Road reviews. Their effect on community road scores is reversed.
- Push-notification tokens, and your subscriber record at RevenueCat
Data that lives only on your device is removed when you delete the app or clear its data; deleting your account removes the copies backed up to our servers, except as described below.
Group rides and trips
So the rest of your group isn't left with missing data:
- Group rides and trips you lead or organize are handed to the member who has been in them longest. If nobody else is left in one, it's deleted with your account.
- Shared trip content you created (expenses, lodging, stops, and polls) passes to the trip's organizer.
- In trip expense ledgers, your share moves to an unnamed “Former member” entry so other members' balances stay correct. Your name is removed.
What is retained
After your account is deleted, we keep:
- Records we are legally required to keep, such as payment records held by Apple or Google.
- De-identified or aggregate data that can't be tied back to you, such as anonymous road-database contributions.
- Reports other riders filed about content you posted, including the copy of that content they reported, and our log of moderation actions. We keep these to deal with abuse.
- Your email-list signup or beta application on our website. Email privacy@openrydr.com to remove them.
- Message logs kept by our text-message provider (Twilio) for safety texts already sent, under its own retention rules.
- Copies in our database backups, which roll over on our hosting provider's backup schedule.
This is consistent with the retention practices described in our Privacy Policy.
