Why I built OpenRydr
I ride, and I wanted a navigation app that actually worked on a motorcycle, without costing more than every other app on my phone. Most of the motorcycle navigation apps I tried cost more per year than anything else I pay for. So I started building my own.
That’s OpenRydr. Turn-by-turn navigation, all five route types, crash detection, Safety SMS with a live tracking link for your emergency contacts, and severe-weather alerts are all free. The paid plans exist because group riding, backing up your full ride history, and keeping the servers running all cost real money, and I priced them at what I’d be comfortable paying myself: $12.99 a year for Rydr, $24.99 a year for Premium.
I’m one person building this, so it won’t be perfect. What I can promise is that I’m listening. If something’s broken, missing or just annoying, tell me through the app’s feedback form or at support@openrydr.com. If the map itself is wrong, report a map problem. I read every message, and the beta testers’ feedback is shaping what comes next.
